Supermono

We are continuing to develop a range of transmission parts for the 4 stroke motorcross engines being converted for use in supermono racing.  Close ratio road race style 5 speed gear clusters have been produced for the CRF450 and YZF450 engines.  Higher ratio primary gears for the CRF engine are now available. 

A 6 speed gearbox for the CRF450 has successfully completed its first meeting, being placed 6th and 4th in the British Supermono Championship rounds at the Snetterton race track on 11th and 12th April.

We Manufacture a wide range of Racing Transmission Components for the Ducati Singles, having started in 1985 with a simple two gear conversion.  Whilst we take no credit for the performance of our customers machines, we do offer a transmission package which puts the Ducati owner on par with the owners of true racing machines.

Close ratio gear set

This comprises of Input Shaft and all other gears with an option to purchase a new output shaft.   All gears have three undercut engagement dogs for rapid and positive selection.  The ratio's are as follows:-

      lst  2.25:1                   2nd  1.65:1                      3rd    1.318:1                  
      4th   1.12:1                 5th  1:1

The close ratio gear sets are available for both wide crankcase and narrow crankcase models.

We have taken the opportunity to improve the strength of all the gears as far as possible.  The input shaft is also improved by enlarging the shoulders either side of the gear to give more positive location.

Our products are all manufactured from the highest quality certificated gear steel and heat treated by certificated processors.

We can also supply new standard 3rd gear inputs which are no longer available from Ducati.

Narrow case version

The narrow crankcase version is more expensive due to the manufacturing costs associated with the internal engagement dogs on first and fifth output shaft gears.  To locate the bearing which supports the output shaft, adjacent to 1st gear, a separate collar is supplied with lock screws to clamp to the output shaft.  The kick start mechanism is therefore dispensed with.

Primary Drives

Wet Clutch

The conversion comprises of a set of Straight Cut Primary gears 250 (2.46:1 ratio) or 350 (2.07:1 ratio) and a hard anodized aluminium Clutch Basket which is secured by screws to the Clutch Primary Gear and crankshaft drive gear.

Dry Clutch

The conversion comprises of a set of straight cut primary gears, ratios as for the wet clutch version, a driving plate on which is mounted an aluminium clutch drum,  ball and needle roller bearings for support. The clutch cover is cast in magnesium and supplied with a foot guard. The standard clutch centre, pressure plate and springs are retained. It is necessary to have a longer input shaft to accommodate a dry clutch. There is no additional charge for these, if a gearbox and clutch are ordered together.
