The Design Process

Nova Racing Ltd. are specialists in the design of motorcycle and small vehicle parts. This process may or may not be followed by the manufacture of the parts within Nova.

1. Concept/Layout Drawings

After discussions with the client about the work required, and agreeing specifications for the product, a concept scheme is produced. This is usually in the form of free hand drawings and the result of internal discussions about function, materials and manufacturing aspects of the work.  

 

2. Assembly Drawings

A 3D model of the individual components is prepared in simple form. This design work is carried out taking special note of the manufacturing processes available in the Nova workshop. The individual components are linked together in an assembly drawing to ensure that interference is avoided. This work is normally performed within Autodesks Mechanical Desktop.

3. Detailed Drawings

The detailed drawing is the final stage of the design process. These are produced from the 3D models prepared for the assembly drawing. The drawing contains all the necessary information for product manufacture by Nova staff. If required, detailed drawings can also be supplied for alternative manufacture.
